Phoenix Winter Grand Prix PDF

Phoenix Triathlon Club Winter Grand Prix Launch

So racing season is over and there’s no triathlons for a few months…how do you stay motivated, particularly with your swimming? It’s very hard to focus on something like a race that’s 6-8 months away. So we have come up with a series of club races put on by Phoenix for Phoenix triathlon club

  1. 19th Jan 2013 Running G3 xc 10km race Newlands Corner
  2. 6th Feb 2013 Swim 1000m timetrial
  3. 2nd March  Bike hilly 10mile TT, 10 am Wotton Hatch
  4. 17th March Aquathlon (500m S / 5km R) SSP , 9:30 am start (organised by AllAboutTriathlons)
  5. 23rd March Bike 10 mile TT, 10 am Worplesdon
  6. 13th April XC Duathlon Hurtleberry Holmbury
  7. 7th May Sprint triathlon Thames Turbo race 2 (S 440m / B 20km / R 5km)

You can do as many as you like of the Winter Grand Prix series. In order to be in the running for the trophy you have to do a minimum of 3 races, which you can choose, and then your 3 best disciplines count. There will be a trophy for the winners in each category for 2013 too!

On the WGP - scoring is to take the time of the fastest club member in the

age group - we do Male & Female Senior <40, and Veteran >40 - and convert time from

hours/minutes to seconds. All other competitors in that AG are then

compared to that time as a %

Club events are obviously free, and as you’ll no doubt be entering some races over the winter / spring as training there’s the option of some events as a club as well.

This will also promote the membership of the club and some friendly rivalry which is why we’re here, we all love training and racing with friends!

There will be a topic up on the forum for you to let us know which events you’re doing, and we’ll take names for club events.

The idea for the Winter Grand Prix series  is to keep your motivation levels up over the winter, give you monthly targets to track your fitness, have some fun and do something different over the winter!

Hope you like the idea and can help support it to make it a roaring success

We’ll have you rising like a phoenix out of the ashes once the 2013 race season kicks off!

In good old Phoenix tradition we have an evening of good food/ wine & awards to look forward to, this year at the Britannia Pub in Guildford on December 7th.

End of season social PDF
As the Triathlon season is fast coming to an end I thought time to organise a Phoenix Social. Different to our usual swim, bike & running there has been much noise about tree climbing, rope swinging and high wire adventure activities so a Phoenix outing to Go Ape beckons!!

When: October 13th
Time: 1pm
Where: Bracknell
Cost: £30 Gorillas/ £20 Baboons

goape.co.uk/days-out/bracknell

The traditional Go Ape adventure lasts for 2-3 hours and there are other options also such as Forest Segway if you don't fancy the high ropes or you want to bolt on and do afterwards.

In the evening for those hardcore among us I have also organised for a great band to play at the Robin Hood pub in Guildford (Sydenham Road, 100m north of the Castle Car Park) for the Phoenix team. Reasonably priced drinks, a good atmosphere & great live music this will be the perfect chance to share your tree swinging adventure stories from earlier. Everyone welcome to either or both parts of the day, just sign up on the forum.

Any questions feel free to ask and I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. All welcome so bring the family too and make a great Phoenix day out!

Swim update PDF
Reminder:

Due to the Olympics we will not be able to use the pool in the Surrey Sportspark in July. We have therefore gone back to Charterhouse and we managed to get 3 lanes every Tuesday for the month of July, from 3rd until 31st July inclusive. Sunday will stay as before, but Wednesday and Friday sessions will be replaced by the Tuesday sessions.

During this time you can take full advantage of the Lido evening swim session on Tuesday and Thursday evenings or the Wednesday evening lake swimming in Mychett. Please note that neither the Lido, nor the Mychett sessions will be coached.
